Cleaning Out Your Blood

Let me start by saying that since I was 11 years old, I have struggled with blinding migraines. and when I say blinding, its not for emphasis, I'd lose my sight for a good 30 - 40 minutes then have an excruciating headache for the rest of the day. I had been to many different types of medical professionals to find the root of these migraines and their conclusion was always 'stress'.

I had to endure these about two or three times a year until 2015, when they would be as frequent as two or three times a week! And even once while I was driving, I had to pull over on the highway until I regained my sight, this was the final straw and I sought out all the help I could get which lead me to Epigenetic Nutrition

Turns out the root of the problem was DIET! Not Stress!

Seriously? Not one of the several 'highly' qualified professionals in the medical field could offer this as a possibility

[Side Note: Epigenetic Nutrition is a science that studies the effect of nutrition on gene expression. This means that there isn't a specific instruction manual to follow because each individual will be different, blood types vary, diet varies, each persons physical activity varies, and even though this is science the approach was more holistic and natural than medicinal.]

Can we also as a collective stop calling Alternative Medicine 'Alternative', when it is actually the OG.

Think of your DNA as a vast library of books. Your genes are the books, but epigenetics acts like the bookmarks, highlights, and sticky notes that determine which books are read and which remain closed. Nutrition is one of the factors that can affect these markers.

Anyway, she pricked my finger and put my blood, a wet blood sample and a dry blood sample under a microscope, took pictures of it and showed my what my blood looked like vs what healthy blood should look like. Then explained to me the possible causes of every minor anomaly.

I have the common 'Hunter' Blood type O which requires a high-protein low carb intake. I was always very much into my carbs and even worse, enjoyed my wheat. The wheat along with all the other 'wrong' food had caused my blood to have, for lack of a better term, a stickiness to it, which caused strain on vessels especially capillaries in my occipital lobe (the visual processing hub of the brain) which is why I temporarily lost my sight and had headaches!

THIS I COULD EASILY UNDERSTAND

As opposed to... just... 'Stress'

The conclusion was to spend three months on a diet that serves my blood type and in turn cleans it out. A blood cleanse if you will.

The components of the diet were:

Eat for my Blood type (incl. high-protein, low carb, no sugar, no diary)

Eat more Alkaline based foods

Up my mineral intake

Exercise

And I was allowed one cheat day a week for the little cravings

This was very difficult at first, back in 2015 the sugar free, gluten free scene wasn't what it is now. most meals had to be made from scratch. but I soldiered through and after three months my blood looked BEAUTIFUL and HEALTHY.

and ten years later I have been migraine free. Im not as strict as those three months but still very aware of what I eat, more of what is highly beneficial and the rest in moderation.

Any kind of diet is difficult to do if one eats out a lot, this really requires some discipline and you have better control if you are making your meals, but its so easy to google recipes now a days that it feels effortless. What helps me the most is that many ingredients can be substituted. I replace dairy milk with plant milk, there are countless options for flour. and this can be adapted to any blood type.

Maybe you think eating salad is healthy, and in the meantime your blood thrives on carbs.

Every.

Single.

Person.

is different.

What one person eats to lose weight wont necessarily work on the next. What person A does for exercise won't necessarily have the same results on person B. Because diet, lifestyle, and genetics will always vary.
